Network To Learn The Ecological Perspective

Recently, with the development of multimedia technology and networkedcommunication technology, people pay more and more attention to E-learning basedon Internet because of its virtues such as huge learning resources, convenient ways oftransferring information and human communication unrestricted by time and space.Internet affords a virtual learning community in which learners can constructknowledge and negotiate meanings through learning environment based on physicalhardware establishment, learning management system and abundant learningresources. Learning virtual community can be seen as a subsystem existed ineducation system which is called E-learning ecosystem. This paper applies an ecologyperspective to allow us to see E-learning from a systemic viewpoint, and tounderstand the components of the system and how they interplay with each other toenable and to support the processes of learning.Firstly, the paper introduces ecology and educational ecology, and definesE-Learning ecosystem as a system comprising learners and tutors that provides alearning environment in which they can transfer information, communicate with eachother and share resources in order to promote efficient learning. E-learning ecosystemhas basic features such as its systematization, diversity, dynamic opening to otherthoughts and sustainable development. Then the paper analyzes the basic structure ofE-Learning ecosystem. It is the combination of the primary elements namely learningcommunity and web-based learning environment. According to an ecosystem'sessential function of substance circulation, energy exchanges and information transfer,the paper analyzes the function of E-Learning ecosystem. Finally the paper introducesthe connotation and representation of E-Learning ecological crisis, and puts forwardsome measures to curing the crisis.The paper applies an ecology perspective to research E-learning. It will afford anew perspective to research and know E-learning, and help to enrich the theory ofE-learning. At present there is little research of E-learning in ecology perspective, thepaper attempt to do it. The research has some deficiencies because of my limitedcapacity and needs to be paid further effort.
