When making a general survey of the changes in Chinese teaching materials in China and looking back on the twenty years'teaching reform, we find though they have gradually stepped out of the embarrassing situation: ultra-'Left', out of date, used only as a tool, and lack of humanity, they're making slow progress. The issue and implement of《Senior Chinese Curriculum Criterion (experimental copy)》shows the bright way for furthering the reform on the teaching of Chinese. The new curriculum criterion attaches importance to the students'proficiency in words as a communicative tool, ranging from the guiding ideology for compilation of the materials, set aims and tasks to the selection of the materials and arrangement of the contents. Meanwhile, it lays stress on giving full play to its function to train the students'humane spirit. The new task puts new challenges to senior Chinese teachers. The teachers must develop in harmony with the reform of curriculum, renew their idea, enrich their knowledge and improve individual cultural mastery.
