Humanistic education is the universal recognized nowadays. It is the main force in thecreation and development of individual humanitarian spirits and it also nourishes the conceptsof educational guiding lines in the implementations of the quality education and all rounddevelopment. In other words, humanistic education is the fundamental part of education in itsmodernization process in China. The author by the horizon of humanistic education, mainlyused some research tools, literature search, diagnoses and so on, through the exploration intothe humanistic education in higher learning institutions and search for the relationshipbetween education and people in the article, the present situation of education in higherlearning institutions is scientifically and reasonably evaluated. In addition, the deep analysisof the problems and the difficulties in the educational transition is made and the measures andtactics of carrying out humanistic education are discussed. The study provides a new rangeand perspective in the research of the education in higher learning institutions in China, andthe new way of thinking can also help accelerate the development of education in higherlearning institutions in China and solve the problems, such as "spiritual crisis", "value crisis"and "faith crisis". And the research is also valuable in the orientation of reflections on thereforms of higher learning institutions in China.With the speedy development of China's productive force and all around social progress,the students' all around development should be taken into account in every educationalactivity, also the increasingly high demand for education and learning in China's higherinstitutions of learning urgently calls for the humanistic emancipation of college students whohave been confined long, the change from the focus only on books and lack of considerationof students. By the analysis of the present education and teaching in China's higherinstitutions of learning and the difficulties, the author intends to find out the causes and thestrategies and promote the new concepts of humanistic education and learning. It is pointedout that the students' self-consciousness should be awakened besides the elevation of theoperational aspects of knowledge and skill acquisitions so that students can have their fullspirituality and perfect personality in the practice of education and teaching in the higherinstitutions of learning. It also calls for the full display of the students' subjective initiative sothat they can control their own development and become their own masters of theirself-development. It is also pointed out that the education should be oriented to thedevelopment of "human being" and return to its original true sense, and the students shouldhave all-around, harmonious and sustained development in a democratic and relaxededucational atmosphere so that the improvement of the modern aspects of human beings canbe realized.The article mainly consists of the following three parts:In part one, the concepts of humanistic education and teaching and object of the studyare defined and the analyses are made about the problems to which should be paid attention inthe practice of humanistic education.In part two, through the analysis of the background and evolution of the rise ofhumanistic educational thoughts at home and abroad, the search is made into the nature andtheoretical foundation of humanistic education in the practice of the education in China'shigher institutions of learning. With regard to the present education and teaching in China'shigher institutions of learning, detailed analyses of the defects and shortcomings of thepresent education and teaching are made, such as the political tendency, utilitarian and testorientations, knowledge cramming method, emotional indifference and personality alienation,and the detailed discussions are made about the urgency and necessity of carrying out thehumanistic education and teaching.In part three, on the basis of the necessity and urgency of carrying out of humanisticeducation, the author puts forward the principles that should be followed in humanisticeducation and teaching. The detailed discussions about the specific methods and measures aremade in the aspects of changes of teaching concepts, innovation of teaching patterns andmethods, improvement of teaching syllabus, the study of efficiency in moral education andthe creation of cultural atmosphere.
