The traditional curriculum evaluation system is the bottleneck that confines the new curriculum reform in elementary education. Building a suitable evaluation system is one of the prerequisites for the successful implementation of the new curriculum. Efficient student evaluation is an organic and indispensable part of the curriculum system. The reform and innovation in this area becomes the focus after the promulgation of the curriculum standard. This thesis probes into the evaluation of senior school students' Chinese learning, which is an important part of the new curriculum evaluation system. Altogether there are four chapters besides the introduction and conclusion parts. In the introduction part, the new curriculum evaluation system is introduced to set a theoretical base for the whole thesis. Chapter One mainly deals with the concepts and significances of evaluation in the new curriculum. As the new curriculum has set some principles and demands, how to put them into practice poses a new problem before us. At present there are more theoretical studies than successful practices, and most of the studies are in the compulsory education period. In this sense, to probe into the senior school students' evaluation is of great significance both theoretically and practically. Chapter Two is centered on the contents and concepts of the senior school students' Chinese learning evaluation. Chinese learning in the new curriculum is composed of two parts: compulsory and selective modules. Their curriculum objectivesmake up the contents of evaluation. And its fundamental concepts are student-centered and multi-dimensioned and it attaches great importance to the procession. Chapter Three introduces some commonly used and efficient evaluation approaches. These approaches are also advocated by the new curriculum. Nowadays the evaluation system is not satisfying with the obstruction of the National College Entrance Examination. Thus a cautious description is adopted in the exposition in order to maintain a rational compromise between the ideal and reality. Chapter Four discusses the implementation of new curriculum evaluation. There are abundant case studies to support the argument in reading comprehension, expression and communication in compulsory module as well as in selective module and comprehensive practice. These cases mainly come from the experiments in using the new textbooks based on the new curriculum. In chapter five, the thesis states out some problems to be dealt with in the future. The thesis points out that we should holds a dialectical view to the evaluation of Chinese learning, especially to the problems appearing in progressive evaluation, as it may stimulate students' interest on the one hand, or dampen their enthusiasm on the other. The crux is the evaluation concept. As long as we take students' needs into consideration, we are sure to create an ideal evaluation system.
