Nowadays, curriculum reform with its aim to cultivate students' innovative spirit and practical ability is in progress all over the country. The new curriculum encourages students to change their learning style. It advocates independent learning, co-operative learning and inquiry learning.Teaching and learning is dialectic unity. Teaching serves learning. Inquiry teaching is one of learning activities in which students study in the way of scientific research under the guidance of teachers. While it enables students to obtain the training of scientific methods, it also enables them to understand the nature of science further.Hypothesis is a necessary road to objective truth for human beings. Without hypothesis, there will be no science. It is also an important step of inquiry teaching and the key to problem solving. It seems very important to explain the hypothesis and the hypothesis of inquiry teaching.The inquiry is the core of science. The aim of science education is to improve students' scientific quality. The thesis makes a research into hypothesis and inquiry teaching in the new perspective of scientific philosophy and new curriculum. I try to construct a theory and practice system of hypothesis in the inquiry physics teaching of senior middle school. I make an effort to express the nature of science and education. I hope to offer teachers a hand in methodology so as to realize the great leap from science of scientists to science of students themselves.
