Nowadays it becomes more and more important for the learners to grasp the learning strategy. "How to learn" is being paid more attention to than "how to teach". Many foreign language teachers have devoted themselves to the study of Learning Strategy. But most of the studies are from the universities and colleges while a few of them are from middle schools. And vocabulary strategy used by middle school students hasn't been fully researched yet. Based on the ideas of the experts, I conducted an investigation into it according to my teaching practice to know the opinions of the middle school students on how to learn the English words and how much the students use metacognitive strategy, cognitive strategy and social strategy in their vocabulary learning. And here I want to discuss how the strategies will be trained in our teaching processes with the English teachers. The aim that I do it is to help the middle school students to find some good methods in learning vocabulary. The whole thesis is made up of three parts. The first part is about the background of the study and some basic theories. The second part is a survey of the use of the strategies of the students in two classes in Nanjing Foreign Language school and the analysis in it. Part Three is an introduction of some methods of training the vocabulary strategies during teaching. Since I have only investigated 97 students in one school, and also a key school, it needs a further study to prove whether the result is universally acknowledged. |
