In the conditions of the New Cumculum and Instruction Reform, teaching materials development should accord with the new concepts of the New Curriculum and Instruction Reform.. Especially, the advocacy of the Task-based Language Teaching Approach in the new English Curriculum Criterion puts forward a new demand and challenge to the teaching materials development. In the field of the English education, the teaching materials with Task-based Language Teaching Approach which are appropriate to China are in great need. However, Researches on the English teaching materials development with the Task-based Language Teaching Approach are few.On this background, this thesis tries to do some theoretical and practical researches on the English teaching materials development with the Task-based Language Teaching Approach by the method of documents analysis, induction, classifying and statistics, comparative method, etc.At first, the thesis summarizes the essence of the curriculum development theories and analyzes the practice of the English curriculum development in China. Then it elaborates on the Task-based Language Teaching Approach. After that, the thesis does a deep research on how the English textbook —Go for it! Embodies the Task-based Language Teaching Approach. The author also reads and understands other editions of the English textbook with the Task-based Language Teaching Approach. On the basis of those, the thesis attempts to show the author's consideration and give some suggestions on task activities development in the elementary education English textbooks with the Task-based Language Teaching Approach, from the aspects of the aims of the task design, the contents choosing of tasks, the organization of tasks and the assessment to task activities' design, so that it will guide to build and develop language task activities in the elementary English textbook according to the new concepts of the Curriculum and Instruction Reform and the Task-based Language Teaching Approach which is advocated in the new English Curriculum Criterion.
