| It has been for long that a teacher-centered teaching mode is widely adopted inChina's traditional English classroom teaching, which focuses mainly on knowledgeitself, not on student's abilities. This mode overstresses teacher's leading role whileneglects students'main role in classes. As a result, students form the habit of learningEnglish passively in classes and even lose interest in English study. With the EnglishReform, it is essential for English teachers to abandon "spoon-feeding"teachingmethod, return to students the right to study and try to provide students with moreopportunities to study in English classes. A Task-based Teaching Mode(TBTM)inSenior English class is such a new kind of teaching mode as is based on advancedteaching ideas. It aims to develop students'comprehensive competence in using thetarget language and promote their development in an active way.This thesis has clarified the definition, source and background of TBTM and hasdiscussed, under the guidance of this theory, the principles and approaches of settingup Practical Task-based Teaching Mode for English Language in Senior MiddleSchool with care of the real situation of English Teaching in China. In this thesis theauthor has expounded in detail the practical significance, basic principles, teachingobjectives, specified contents and procedures of implementing this mode in Englishclasses. And the author has also summarized the case researches conducted in her ownclasses and concluded that this mode is feasible and effective in Senior Middle SchoolEnglish classroom teaching. |
