| In a considerable period of time, a teacher-centered learning mode has widely been adopted in China's traditional English classroom learning, which focuses mainly on knowledge acquirement itself, rather than on the student's abilities. This mode overstresses the teacher's leading role while neglecting students' main role in classes. As a result, students have formed a habit of learning English passively in classes and even lose interest in English study. To improve such an English learning mode, we find it necessary to abandon the "spoon-feeding" teaching method, return to students the right to study and try to provide students with more opportunities to study in English classes. The task-based learning mode in senior English class is such a new kind of learning mode based on advanced teaching ideas. It aims to develop students' comprehensive competence in using the target language and promote their development in an active way.Having addressed the research significance and the present situation of the research both at home and abroad, this thesis, under the guidance of this theory and taking into account of the real situation of English teaching in China, set up a practical task-based learning mode for English language teaching in high school. In addition, it has discussed the objective and the way of design and evaluation related to the teaching mode. It also has expounded in detail the characteristics, the principles and the procedures of applying this mode in English classes. And the author's experiment has shown that this learning mode is feasible and effective in English classroom learning of high school. |
