In the Chinese teaching in middle schools,it is significant to foster students'imagination ability. It's the requirement of a nation's rising,development of the times,and progress of a person.The nature of fostering students imagination ability can be discussed from five aspects:psychology,study theory,art theory,aesthetics,and thinking science.Imagination can be divided into rebuilt imagination and creative imagination.Students'rebuilt imagination is mainly developed from the teaching of reading,while creative imagination developed from the teaching of writing.To this theme,I put forward a prerequisite,two bases and three principles.The one prerequisite is that rebuilt imagination and creative imagination can not be separated completely;the two bases are the Chinese eduation goal and Chinese curriculum criteria;the three principles are the principle of combination of class teaching and out-of-class materials;the principle of guiding students'rational imagination and the principle of guiding students'initiative imagination.In the teaching of reading,the teacher should dissolve the language obstacles and encourage the students to ask questions so that they can avoid a superficial,one-sided and false reading.The teacher should also foster the students'and make the language and emotion a bridge to emotions students ability of rebuilt imagination.The teacher can build the bridge by situational imagination, comparative imagination,associate imagination and inferential imagination in the course of teaching.In the teaching of writing,the teacher arouses students'interest of creative imagination by extending writing,rewriting,and sequel writing;the teacher fosters students'creative imagination by guiding the students to observe,to extract and to think;the teacher develops students'creative imagination by promoting them to do lieerary writing.The three procedures are not separate but intermingled with one another in practice.It's the repousibility of a Chinese language teacher to foster students'ability of imagination.It requires a teacher of a high quality.It requires that a teacher should be provided with the idea of"free space",the quality of creative thinking,the ability of version appreciation and criticism and that of controlling the paces of the class apart from their basic qualities.With the bases of scientific theory and high-qualified teachers,who are carrying on a rational method of teaching,the students'imagination will fly freely like a bird in the sky of literature.
