China Research Group, a distinguished academic organization during the period of Republic of China, whose members distributed widely in the fields of literature, history, philosophy, science, technology, medicine, agriculture, education and art, executed great impact on the academic research, education and printing, with its name equivalent to the China Science Group, the other comprehensive academic organization. CRG hands down the principle of "seeking the truth, promoting the academy and exchanging the intelligence." and contributed a lot to the Chinese science research, education and printing. But the CRG had never walked into the researchers' horizon since 1949. Till now, there's only one short paper, named Guo Moruo and the CRG, by Deng Newdun, a professor in Shanghai Unversity, touches on this subject. Researches are inefficient on its up and down, its management and contributions. Hence this thesis is expected to fill in the blank and evoke concerns on the subject.Four parts make the thesis: CRG' experience, CRG and education, CRG and printing, CRG and science research individually.1. The CRG'experienceThe CRG was founded in 1916 in Koishigawa Ting of Tokyo, named Bingchen Study Group initiatively, with a membership of 47. It fell into an end because myriad of students fiied back homeland hi 1918.In 1920, under the reorganization of Zheng Zhenwen, Bingchen Study Group revoked its members and built up agencies in Peking, Tokyo and Kyoto, setting up regulations of bureau try. New regulations was polled and its name was changed into CRG in June 22, 1922, with general agencies in shanghai and local agencies in big cities and Tokyo. Zheng Zhenwen and Zhou Changshou were elected general official and vice general official respectively. The following 15 years witnessed a period of comparative stability. The CRG stretched forward with its members increased and other agencies founded. The CRG set up Xueyi College and Xueyi Middle School in Nanjing educationally. It publicized such periodicals as Xueyi and Zhonghua Xueyi Papers and series as Xueyi Series, Xueyi Summery and Jiyin Gushu. After the "Lugou Bridge Affair", the War caused the members' diffusion and the CRG came to an end. The end of the War sparked the candle of recovering it, but the dramatic changes compelled the CRG into dismiss.2. The CRG and educationThe CRG included mainly the students from Japan, being an important constructive force in the field of Chinese intelligentsia. In 1924, a proposal raised by Wang Zhaorong and He Songling was made that Xueyi College should be initiated and then agreed by the following poll. Wang organized relevant Preparation and Financial Committee and 42 sub-groups to raise fund home and abroad. The board of the Xueyi College came into being in 1924 and made Zheng Zhenwen Chairman and Wang Zhaorong the President. Two departments, law and liberal art, were set up at the beginning and two regulations were set down that any qualifier should not participateany partial actions and female appliers were declined. In September, Xueyi College opened in a mansion in the No.320 of RdJing'An Temple. As for some forbidden, only 30 students came. But the teachers were quite prestigious such Fan Shoukang as the dean of the Dept. Law, Guo Moruo as the dean of Dept. Art and Fang Guangtao, Chang Yunmei, He Lu and Zeng Qi.But the first fund-raising just supported two months and conflicts broke out for the dissentience. One year later, Xueyi College closed.3. The CRG and the printingPrinting is the most important cause of the CRG Two kinds were periodicals and series. Xueyi was created in April 1917 to 1958. It is fair to say that Xueyi went closely with the CRG It was the first mission for the CRG and free charge to the members so that it played as a tie among them.Selected Ancient Archives is cooperation between the CRG and the Commercial Press. Ma Zongrong, who majored in Literary in Japan, investigated the Chinese books collected by them and suggested the CRG should invest on copying them as Japan did. So Zheng Zh...
