In the 21th century,a knowledge-based economy's century,with the rapid development of science and technologyjcnowledge-based economy requires education to conduct overall reforms to meet the needs of the knowledge-based economy's development. The hope of vitalizing nationalties relies on education and the hope of vitalizing education relies on teachers.Teachers are the executives of quality education. Traditional teachers'role is only the person who impart knowledge .Obviously, the role hasn't been able to be adapted to the needs of modern educational development. Teachers'roles must be varied.The varieties for teachers'roles inevitably requires teachers'multiple qualities.The varieties for teachers'roles are in accordance with teachers'multiple qualities.By analysing teachers'roles and their qualities, the thesis points out the relation between teachers'roles and their qualities. Faced with the inappropriateness of present teachers'roles and the lacking of their qualities, author analyses their causes and disadvantages and raises some thinkings and measures about how to reform them.The relative contents of the varieties for teachers'roles and their qualities, which are divided into four aspects, are discussed and studied in this thesis.The first aspect clarifies the development backgrounds of the varieties for teachers'roles and their research values. Modern educatin development requires that teachers'roles must be varied .The varieties for teachers'roles put forward overally new requirements to teachers.At the same time the author points out the main research aims of the thesis.Based on analysing roles and teachers'roles, the historic evolution of teachers'roles characteristics is reviewed in the second aspect. This shows that teachers'roles required at different times are different Times is changing,teachers' roles are changing,too. The characteristics of 21th century requires that teachers must possess multiple roles.Teachers' roles have new meanings.Through studying the inappropriateness of teachers'roles and the lacking of their qualities, author analyses their causes and disadvantages in the third aspect and points out the inappropriateness of teachers'roles and the lacking of their qualities stop quality education from being carried out.With the trend of education reform and development, author offers some measures about how to reform teachers'roles and their qualities in the fourth aspect: Establish roles awareness, Change teachers'roles, Improve multiple qualities and Realize the varieties for teachers'roles.
