Population aging is a trend in the world, with which it becomes a hot topic that who takes responsible for daily care of the elderly persons. To a great extent, population aging in China is influenced by the level of economic development, the social security, the family planning policy and the traditional concepts of piety in oriental cultures, which leads to a phenomenon that the bulk of the elderly decide to remain in their own homes. However, as the number of children decreases and the pressure of the work increases, the family's ability to provide eldercare becomes weaker and weaker. In view of the above-mentioned facts, the thesis attempts to make an on-the-spot investigation in urban Shanghai, to study the disabled in-home elderly in urban Shanghai and their main caregivers, to analyze their status quo and demands on daily care and to design and improve the support network for the main caregivers of in-home elderly in urban China.The main content of the thesis is as follows: summarize the demands of elderly persons in China on daily care; forecast the number of the disabled old people in China; expound the status quo and the characteristics of the disabled in-home elderly in urban Shanghai; analyze the status quo and the characteristics of the main caregivers for the disabled in-home elderly in urban Shanghai; introduce the current support network for the main caregivers of in-home elderly in urban China; design and improve the support network for the main caregivers of in-home elderly in urban China.And there is some innovation: combine data on the disabled in-home elderly and forecast the number of the disabled old people in China; expound the basic status and the health status of the disabled in-home elderly in urban Shanghai; analyze the status quo, the care status, the feelings and demands of the main caregivers for the disabled in-home elderly in urban Shanghai on daily care; put forward some practical suggestions to design and improve the support network for the main caregivers of in-home elderly in urban China.
