The essay aims at the research of English teachers in middle schools under the background of basic education reforming. It intends to offer the theoretical evidence and base, and try to make the realization of teacher professional development in middle schools by referring to its necessity , content importance, ways and prospect. Since the research of teacher professional development has just started in home and we still haven't obtained enough experience on this point, this research adjusts theoretical research ways.The new curriculum reform pays much attention to the development of students and, at the same time, it demands the change of students' learning ways and teaching ways. So, English teachers should stand higher and learn to improve themselves by doing action research, teaching reflection and receive further education.What is new in this essay is that it deals with teacher professional development under the background of the new basiceducation reform ,especially it emphasis the importance of English teachers professional development in middle schools. Hope this research can benefit all the English teachers who engage in English teaching in middle schools and help them do English teaching with new idea and thoughts, and, at last they can reach the goal of improving the whole level of English teacher professional development.
