| This paper includes four parts.Part one gives an introduction to the research study, including its aim. the theoretical and practical significance and the principal research methods.In part two, terms like "practice", "teaching practice", ''teaching practice of students at teacher's college", "educational policy" and "teaching practice policy of teacher's college" are defined, and the relationship among each other is analyzed. thus giving a foundation for the following parts.Part three presents a retrospective study of teaching practice policies of teacher's college, dating back to the periods before the founding of People's Republic (namely by the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, era of revolutionary bases) up to the time following the founding of People's Republic, and provides a generalization and summation of the characteristics and content of teaching practice policies at teacher's colleges.Part four centers around the issues related to the present condition of teaching practice policies at teacher's colleges. Study of one of the dynamic surface features of teaching practice policies, that is, the mode of teaching practice finds five problems in our present teaching practice policy of teacher's college, namely, 1. a decline in the quality of teaching practice; 2. indifference on the part of secondary schools where student teachers work; 3. lack of funds; 4. problematic instructing work and 5. the incompatibility of the arrangement of teaching practice work with the tendency toward integration in teachers' education. The paper then puts forward a tentative analysis of their underlying causes.Part five attempts to construct the teaching practice policy of teacher's college in China in the 21st century. Through analyzing the three factors influencing our future teaching practice policy of teacher's college, and based on the study of the past and present conditions, this part proposes five principles that should be followed in formulating the future teaching practice policy of teacher's college. The above observation leads to the discussion of four essential elements that should be included in our future teaching practice policy of teacher's college: 1. a uniform quality policy; 2. a complete institutional policy; 3. a flexible financial policy; and 4. a rigorous instructor policy. |
