With economic development, the environmental pollution is becoming serious day by day; the present environmental problem has already become a world social concern. In order to make people have correct development ideas and in order to improve people's environmental consciousness, we must develop the career of environmental education, which is a precondition of solving the environmental problem completely.The level of environmental consciousness and environmental quality is an important sign of weighing civilization degree of a country and a nation. One of the objectives of our socialist moderation is protecting, loving, building the environment and improving the awareness of environment of the whole nation. Environmental consciousness is not only an integration of the modern scientific knowledge and ethical behavioral norm, but also a necessity of entering a civilized society of the mankind. Environmental consciousness cannot be produced spontaneously and automatically; it mainly depends on educating and practical action.The graduates of vocational school, who directly serve the frontline of the production, are the main body of skilled worker, they make direct and realistic influence on environmental protection, and they are the important foundation for controlling the environmental pollution and improving the environmental state. It is urgent and necessary to develop environmental education in vocational school, and also in enhancing the student' s awareness of environment, improving technical ability on environmental protection. We need not only the intermediate specialist with professional knowledge, but also the medium-sized specialized personnel with environmental consciousness and environmental protection knowledge for the modernization construction of our country.The investigation to environmental consciousness is a result, which is a stage for developing environmental protection and environmental propagation. There is no special research on the investigation of awareness of environment among the vocational school students. For this reason, we corne to investigate the state of awareness of environment of the vocational school student from four levels: namely move in environmental knowledge, environmental attitude, observation and appraisal of the environment.The results show that most vocational school students have already known some ABC and views in environmental knowledge. Because of the different specialty the studentshave differences between range and profundity of knowledge. Certain difference can be demonstrated between different major students when they answer some topics that need certain environmental knowledge background. It indicates that the students from the environment major demonstrate certain advantage on the topics that need the accumulation of environmental knowledge, because they accept more environmental education and can make correct judgments through their knowledge accumulation.The attitude toward environment of students from vocational school is positive, responsible generally. Most students have comparatively correct value judgment, express comparatively correct behavior trend, meanwhile, it reflected that the excessive attention was paid to the theoretical environment education, and ignored the education of technical ability of the concrete environmental question.The attitude to the change of the living environment is different between the students; students from non- environmental specialty are more optimistic than students from environmental specialty. The vocational school students are exerted a tremendous influence by the personal impression while appraising the environmental problem, they are still in the primary level of the awareness of environment.The respect in environment participation is relatively bad among students.
