A Research On The Problems And Strategies Of The Middle School Students’ Awareness Of Environmental Protection In Zhangqiu

As is known to us, the awareness of environmental protection has a big influence on people’s attitude and solution to the present environmental problems. Thus, it is one of the significant goals to enhance the public’s awareness of environmental protection in modern society. When it comes to high school students, one of the main forces of China’s modernization in the future, to improve their level of environmental awareness is particularly important.From the results of the questionnaires,75.33% of the girl students do not get into the habit of littering and spitting casually, while boy students account for 53.25%. Furthermore,49.83% of rural students will stop whoever harms the environment while urban students account for 27.42%. The average score of the paper of the senior high school is 50.35 while junior middle school is 41.82. The result of the survey indicates that, the overall awareness and behaviors of environmental protection of middle school students in Zhangqiu are better, but they have a poorer knowledge of environmental protection. Most students think little of their individual role in protecting the environment. Moreover, their capacity is weak and their daily behaviors are casual so they cannot abide environmental ethics willingly. From the survey, we can also see that among the students, there are differences between boy and girl students, urban and rural students, and senior and junior high school students. What’s more, the level of environmental knowledge of junior high school students is significantly lower than that of the high school students. The dinstinct school has a distinguished impact on the students’awareness of protecting the environment.To build up high school students’awareness of protecting the environment, we can take the following measures. Firstly, improve the public environmental education to increase public awareness of protecting the environment. Secondly, improve the training of teachers and guide teachers to teach environmental knowledge as the extended course in order to penetrate the environmental education into various teaching activities. Thirdly, offer environmental courses and unify teaching plans, curricula and teaching materials prepared by the relevant provisions of environmental teaching objectives, content and scope. Besides, strengthen cultural construction of campus environment to make environmental protection become an inseparable part of campus culture. Finally, establish environmental association of high school students in order to expand their horizons and enhance their environmental awareness.
