To cultivate a man, who has the sense of responsibility and has the potential for various aspects of development capable of dealing with everything, is an idealistic model for human education. Nowadays, the highly rapid development of information technology makes human kind speedily enter an age, one that is full of challenge and alteration-information day. Information day requires that people should dare to take responsibility, think independently and know how to study in order to adapt to the transitional environment. Given the condition described above, Self-Directed Learning is able to help students cultivate these qualities, preparing for handling all kinds of things in the new future world. The thesis is based on the fact that the author of this paper took part in a project titled "Researches on the Design and Utilization in a Reciprocal System of the Electronic Reading Room of Language and Literature", which is a branch of an important subject titled "Researches on the Development of Educational Technology during the Process of Informationalization", one that is among the 'Tenth Five-Year' National Education Project. The author reflects upon the language-literature teaching in internet day, through the way of ubiquitously investigating the condition of technological utilization during the course of teaching language and literature in the present classroom.The thesis argued that to renovate the teaching of language-literature reading lies in two crucial points. One is to further improve subjective status of student, assigning the right of study to students; the other is to use to the full characteristics of information technology's helping study, ameliorating efficiency of the teaching of readingThe thesis guides the concept of Self-Directed Learning and implemental principles into the teaching of high school language-literature reading, in regard to the characteristic of information technology to be used in teaching and the teaching of reading, conducting teaching experiments in Jiading Second High School in Shanghai, and on a basis of concluding experiences of the experiment , devising an implemental frame of the teaching of high school reading in a circumstance of study characteristic of information technology. Generally, the frame includes an environment of study installed with information technology and varieties of manners of study, a construction of a Self-Directed reading classroom, a device of strategies of the teaching of Self-Directed reading, and management for Self-Directed reading classroom. The goal of this thesis lies in exploring ideas and ways in which extremely significant is how to use information technology fully to support the teaching of language-literature reading, while improving efficiency of teaching, promoting various aspects of development of students.
