The forming of the concept of Function, which indicated the grand transition of thought way in Mathematics. The transition is from constant Mathematics to variable Mathematics. And the application of function leads radical change in Mathematics. It mainly includes objects, theory, method and structure. When it come to the secondary Mathematics, function is important without doubt. It had been the ligament of secondary Mathematics, but at the same time it had also become one of the most difficult concepts.Based on the importance and complexity of function, the paper makes some investigations on students about function studying. From the surveys, the author drew a conclusion: for students the concept of function is difficult to understand. Next, the author tries to make more analysis on the characters of function education from the two aspects: curriculum and instruction. Each country has its individual characters of its textbook. The author reads several Chinese math books and a few western ones, and concludes the differences and similarities of function in different views of curriculum. The author analyzes the teaching of function from several teaching cases. How to make students better understand function in the knowledge age, the author gives her personal presentation of liner function and exponential function. At the same time, the author does more researches on the transition of the methods of students learning and teaching with the technology updating.
