Ever since there was education in school, school guidance already formed part of the daily teaching and school life. Hence school guidance is not something new! However, it becomes well-planned, more systematic and a structured-one just because of the development of school education. This helps education to form an all-round educated new generation. This paper uses documentation method to do a research on the development of Secondary School Guidance of Macau. This development is of 3 stages:(l) Pre-formative Stage, (2) Ready-for Formative Stage, and (3) Formative Stage. Although each stage owns its specialities , all three met the needs of the students as their top priority and the Government worked hand-in-hand with the local schools, compensating for one another. To understand more about the present situation of secondary schools of Macau, questionnaires and visits were performed to collect viewpoints of local secondary schools, experienced school guidance teachers and secondary students. These provided valuable data about the members and work of school guidance team; guidance models and theories employed; and students' behavioural problems and their causes etc.. Analysis indicates how the Government and secondary schools are promoting school guidance and the challenging problems they have to face such as related manpower, management control, guidance methods, and students' problems. Comparision method is also used to compare Macau with Hong Kong, hoping to provide more references for the future development of Secondary School Guidance of Macau. As a conclusion, the future development of Secondary School Guidance of Macau will be positive; will emphasize on meeting the needs of the students as well as dealing with their behavioural problems; will strengthen the ability and structure of the school guidance team. An "Upward Development Strategy" is proposed to promote co-operation among secondary schools of Macau, to work in unity and in all aspects for the development of school guidance so that the education in Macau can perform its best on educating youngsters for the society of Macau.
