This research aims to explore the mental health state of the rural and urban middle-school students of Guizhou province, and the difference between the rural and urban middle-school students by using the scaling of MENTALHEALTH TEST (MHT-CR).The results: The overall mental health state of the students is relatively normal, yet, by comparison:1.The mental health degree of the rural middle-school students is lower than that of the urban students, and the difference is highly significant;2.The mental health degree of female students is lower than that of male students, and the difference is significant;3.The difference of mental health states among six grades is significant. The average score of those in senior grade one is the highest, and it shows that the students of senior grade one have more mental problems among the other grades;4.Many students have serious mental problems in terms of self-accusation tendency, High sensitivity tendency and Physical state according to the results by the partial scaling tests of MHT-CR, and eight factor-analysis average scores of the rural students are higher than that of the urban students, and the difference among these eight factor-analysis of the rural and urban students is significant;5.The rural female students have more mental problems among the overall students, and the difference between the rural and urban female students is highly significant. The six factor-analysis average scores of the rural male students are higher than that of the urban students, and the difference is significant.In short, the mental health state of the students is fairly normal, but according to the results by the partial scaling tests, the students have more mental problems. As suggested by the study the mental health state of Guizhou middle-school students is influenced by many factors, such as society, family, school and some aspects related to the students themselves. According to the results, we put forward the suggestions as to how to improve the mental health degree of middle-school students.
