Historical comprehension ability is an important part of the ability of history subject.It has great significance for promoting students’history learning and achieving the goal of history teaching.As the reform of basic educational courses,the cultivation of learning ability are getting more and more attention.Historical Course Standard of the Compulsory Education(2011) firstly and clearly stated that history education should be gradually improved students’ historical comprehension ability. It means that historical comprehension ability is not only the basis of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning but key elements of evaluating the development of students’ historical comprehension ability.In order to promote the students’ historical comprehension ability, history teachers should actively implement historical comprehension teaching according to the performance of students’ historical comprehension ability.This paper discusses the concept and connotation of historical comprehension ability by distinguishing and analysis on comprehension,ability and comprehension.And I divide the aspects of historical comprehension ability into three levels:the ability of obtaining historical information through multi-channels,the ability of processing historical information and the ability of analyzing and explaining historical question.After explaining the connotation of this three-part,this dissertation discusses significance of developing students’ historical comprehension ability to promoting history teaching.By the way of a questionnaire survey of the state of students’ historical comprehension ability,this paper have launched an investigation into students’ historical comprehension ability and have carefully analysed of the survey results.Based on above analysis,this paper analyze and summarize the problem of fostering students’ historical comprehension ability among present history teaching and analyzes and summarizes the reasons of problems.In order to resolve this problem,this article discusses how promote the development of students’ historical comprehension ability in two respects.On the one hand,according to the division of historical comprehension ability,history teachers can promote the development of students’ historical comprehension ability from three aspects:broadening channels of getting historical information,promoting the ability of analyzing historical information and concerning about the teaching of historic events and figures.On the other hand,history teachers should know what are requirements of historical comprehension ability and transform teaching design and mode to train students’ historical comprehension ability.
