In the whole educational system, compulsory education has the widest coverage and longest time span, which is the starting of educational equity. The compulsory education law of the People’s Republic of China has promulgated 30 years till this year.In these 30 years, our country’s compulsory education has a rapid development, creating a miracle in the history of human civilization. However, In our country’s compulsory education,there exists an unbalanced development between urban and rural areas, different regions, schools and groups in the present stage. And comparing to the rural areas, the urban areas enjoy more high-quality educational resources.The difference between urban and rural compulsory education has become an important aspect of hindering educational equity in our country, which restricts the advance of educational modernization and the realization of social equity. This paper analyzes the present situation of the urban and rural compulsory education and summarizes the achievements and existing problems in the practice process, discusses some factors that affect the compulsory education equality between urban and rural areas, trying to put forward a path selection that promotes the compulsory education equality between urban and rural areas.This paper consists of two parts, as follows:The first part: Introduction. It mainly covers the reasons for choosing this topic, research significance, literature review at home and abroad and research methods.The second part: Body, including four chapters.The first chapter is the theory analysis of the compulsory education equality between urban and rural areas.This chapter expounds the related concepts and the basis, the essence and the goal of the compulsory education equality between urban and rural areas in detail.The second chapter is the analysis of the current situation of the compulsory education equality between urban and rural areas. This part introduces the achievements made by the country in promoting the equality of urban and rural compulsory education and the existing problems in the development process, showing the inequitable situation of urban and rural compulsory education visually.The third chapter is about the analysis of the reasons that influence the urban and rural compulsory education equality in China. This part analyses the reasons that cause the urban and rural compulsory education inequality from imbalance economic development between urban and rural areas,the policy deviation and the concept deviation.The fourth chapter is the path selection to promote urban and rural compulsory education equality in China. The inequality problem that exists in urban and rural education should be settled urgently. This part proposes some tentative measures to emancipate the mind and innovate education development concept; deepen the reform comprehensively and promote the development of urban and rural integration; innovate the education system and promote the equalization of urban and rural compulsory education, trying to promote equitable development of urban and rural compulsory education through the cooperation of the school, family and society.
