As a famous contemporary translator, writer and educator, Mr. Fu Lei’s education thoughts,especially his family education ideas, are as great as his remarkable literary achievement with deep, distinctive, practical and impressive values and have constituted an important portion of Chinese educational thinking mine with the role of significant ideological inspiration and value enlightenment until today.The thesis employs the method of literal review and historical research and makes comprehensive, profound and objective investigation about Fu Lei’s family education ideas on the basis of primary sources, including primary sources, such as Fu Lei Corpus, Fu Lei Self-statement and Fu Lei Letters, as well as biographies and related research findings about Fu Lei. The paper also sorts out and presents his life experiences, basic principles and practical application of family education, and then discusses and analyzes contemporary values of his family education.The body of this research is divided into four parts. Chapter One sorts out Fu Lei’s life experiences, from growing-up circumstances, historical background to marriage, in order to analyze historical circumstances and background of his family education ideas. Chapter Two investigates three aspects, namely the rules of conduct presented in “Being a good man before becoming an artist”, the rules of scholarship presented in “Absorb knowledge after comprehensive understanding”, as well as careful,rigorous and artistic life principles. Then this Chapter summarizes basic concepts of Fu Lei’s family education ideas. Chapter Three discusses practical application of Fu Lei’s family education and focuses on his successful family education methods, such as letters, edification, early education, strict requirements, equal dialogues, model demonstration and elicitation.Chapter Four puts forward contemporary values and enlightenment of Fu Lei’s family education ideas, with combination of current problems occurred in domestic family education, and encompasses the following opinions. First, parents are required to create positive education environment in family education. Second, based on the love, family education should realize the coordination of strict requirements and equal dialogues. Third, family education should be transferred “fromknowledge-centered” to“personality-centered”. Fourth,family education should put an emphasis on specialty education according to children’s interests and comprehensive qualities. Fifth, family education should be carried out after learning about children’s physical and psychological features.
