Chinese Text Book in the High School(Trial Edition) published by East China Normal University Press is mainly used in Shanghai. The classical Chinese elected in it are traditional and classic. The notes in the textbook are basically accurate and concise, taking both the professionalism and popularity into account, which are very helpful in teaching and learning. But due to various reasons, this set of textbooks is still flawed, especially exposed many problems in notes in the classical Chinese. These problems involve multiple aspects of pronunciation, meaning, grammar, ancient background knowledge and terminology, mainly concentrating on the accuracy and the completeness. These problems have caused the obstacle to the teaching and learning of classical Chinese. This paper is based on the basic principle of annotation and exegesis, gathering a summary of the articles about the notes of classical Chinese in the high school published in the Journal for nearly ten years, and the investigation of teachers and students using this set of textbooks. The notes of classical Chinese are divided into three aspects-- interpretation, analysis, and description. The notes should be accurate and concise, following the principle of briefness. The notes are analyzed to explore the cause of the problem. I put forward some suggestions for improvement from the perspective of the editors and teachers. Other textbook authors and textbook users may take it for reference, hoping to attract more people’s concern about the notes in the Chinese textbook senior high school.
