In the development of the 20 th century history of Chinese new poetry, Guo Moruo occupied an important position. It was elected to the textbooks in the 1920 s. Although it was revised or even removed during the period of time, it is still remained in many textbooks. But the classic must have the significance and the universal value. So the paper summarizes the literature reading and analyzes the teaching value of the poetry.The paper is made of four chapters. Chapter One summarizes the literature interpretation of “The Celestial Downtown Street” with the related research articles. It is mainly reorganized in four parts, the theme, the expression, the aesthetic ideology and the relevant text comparison. Chapter Two,combining the selection,alteration and removal of the textbooks,makes a comprehensive analyzation according to the arrangement of the learning stage,the cell preparation and the exercise system,based on six different versions of the Chinese textbooks,such as the The PEP.Chapter Three analyzes 16 published teaching cases from two aspects of the theme and the expression. And Hong Shinto’s is specifically discussed from two aspects of the content and the language. The purpose is to find out the teaching values of this poem.In the last part, integrated the above studies, Chapter Four summarizes the teaching values of the poem and some views and suggestions are put forward accordingly.This assay has found out that the reading, the poem theme of “a presentation for ideal life expectation” and the writing skill of “Imagination and Association” are widely noticed. The teaching aims are monotonous and we haven’t seen the abundant views in academia. So I bring up my proposals that we can make more teaching explorations by paying attention to the internal language and the poetic images,the aesthetic ideology, the multi-meanings of the poem, the legend in it and the background.
