College students are the future of the motherland, undertaking the historic mission of socialist construction and national rejuvenation. Their ideological and political quality directly determine whether they can grow into qualified builders and successors. As the main position of ideological and political education of college students, colleges and universities have a vital role in fostering and shaping the ideal personality of college students.How to carry out ideological and politicaleducation work effectively is a problem that the ideological and political education workers have been exploring for a long time. The Chinese nation has a long history, and its cultural connotation is broadand profound, which plays an important role in shaping the personality. In view of the existing problem thatknowledge and action of college students being out of touch, this article selects Wang Yangming’s thought of the unity of knowledge and action in Chinese excellent traditional culture to make a deep analysis, aiming at exploring new ways of ideological and political education in colleges and universities.This main body of thethesis consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction, which introduces the background, significance, research status at home and abroad, as well as theresearch ideas and methods. The second part is the summary of the thought of the unity of knowledge and action. It expounds the process of the formation of the thoughtfrom the aspect of theoretical origin, social background, andpersonal growth experience. The third part describes thenecessityof integrating Wang Yangming’sthought of the unity of knowledge and practice to into the ideological and political education of College students. Through the analysis of the current college students’ ideological and politicalquality problems, the article sums up that problem is resulted from the separation ofknowledge and action. The fourth part talks aboutthe way ofintegrating Wang Yangming’s thought of the unity of knowledge and action into ideological and politicaleducation of college students. From the three aspect ofintegration principle, integrationcontent and integration method, it elaborate how Wang Yangming’s unity theory is applied to the ideological and political education of college students. This part is the focus and innovation of this article. The core of Wang Yangming’s thought of the unity of knowledge and action is to seize the subject statusof educated people, strengthen guidance, pay attention to the combination of learning and practice, and promote the unity of knowledge and practice of college students. So as to further enhance the effectiveness of ideological and political education of college students.
