As a significant part of China’s sports development, community sports has a dire ct bearing on physical and mental health, development of physique and building-up of happy life of adults who account for the majority of the total population of China. Ad ults are the backbones of a country or nation; and health, happiness and longevity of a dults have a direct bearing on social stability and prosperity of a country or nation and therefore undoubtedly mark the excellence of social system of a country and the level of civilization of a nation. For the reasons above, an enhanced and continued implem entation of community sports practice would definitely play a positive and practical r ole in and have a profound influence on the development of socialist material civilizat ion and spiritual civilization.Through questionnaire, literature study, investigation, comparative analysis and mathematical statistics, this paper researched the development and status of communi ty sports between Cuihu(Green Lake) Community, Kunming, Yunnan Province and Licheng Community, Quanzhou, Fujian Province. The result of the research shows that there are differences as well as commonalities in the development of community sports between the two communities, which is mainl y reflected in the difference of financial input due to different levels of economic dev elopment, the difference of sports participating time period due to climate reasons, an d the difference of ways of sports participating due to geographic factors. This finding would provide basic theoretical support for future development of community sports in the two communities.
