Based on the outstanding theoretical achievements in different subjects and combined with the advanced computer technology, mind mapping plays an important role in education with its own value. The thesis gives an in-depth study and observation of theories related to mind mapping in an effort to apply it to the teaching practice of chemistry in senior high school. Through analyzing the teaching practice of chemistry in High School Affiliated to Yunnan Normal University, the author put the use of mind mapping into preview before class, note taking and the summarization of knowledge after class, with the aim of guiding the students to build the knowledge system of the subject and exploring the relationship of key points, so as to study the effectiveness of classroom teaching of chemistry. Through methods including the establishment of elective courses, the comparison of schedule and outcome of students from different grades, the effective approaches of using mind mapping in classroom teaching of chemistry are studied and discussed. According to the author’s experience, the application of mind mapping mode in the teaching of chemistry in senior high school can facilitate the stimulation of eagerness to learn and creativeness among the students, who will form a thorough knowledge network in their minds as well as improve the ability to study independently and draw inferences fromoneinstance.The thesis is mainly divided into four parts. Chapter one gives an introduction which explains the research background, significance and approaches along with the review of researches at home and abroad. In addition, chapter two presents a brief introduction of mind mapping and effective classroom teaching. Moreover, chapter three elaborates the effective application of mind mapping in classroom teaching involving preview, in-class teaching and review. Last but not least, chapter four explains the summarization, reflection and the direction on which the development shallfocusinthefuture.
