This thesis aims to explain the development of mathematical modeling both in domestic and foreign based on the method of literature review, and then discusses the effect, process and method of using mathematical modeling idea. Mathematical modeling idea has played a great role in students’interest in learning mathematics, mathematics learning methods,problem-solving ideas and comprehensive practical ability. What’s more, this thesis has analyzed the interference factors about the development of mathematical modeling in the middle school, which involved the following four aspects:teachers, students, parents and society. I have studied students’ interest, grades and study abilities in learning math by using many different analyzing methods including the questionnaire, interview and experimental verification. Survey results are basically consistent with my envisage. Generally speaking, students have showed great interest in mathematical modeling.At the same time, mathematical modeling can help students to improve their grades, not only that, in mathematics learning ability of students have obvious improvement based on which this thesis closely contact with the teaching material, a large quality of examples and exercises has been covered in order to make it easier for students to understand and make students known the relationship between mathematical modeling and the reality,make them feel the wonders of mathematical modeling, and feel the beauty of mathematics. I have adopted the way of step by step to teach, namely vertical thinking is divided into three steps, mainly for different grade as a standard. And take the way of incremental cuts on lateral thinking, to the degree of students’ mathematical thinking, which should be practiced by teachers according to the level of different students. In addition, this thesis has been involved with the second class based on mathematical modeling which can be used in students who are second year or third year in high school. The activity of methodical modeling can be achieved in summer holiday by liberal party,by a team of students free way to carry out the mathematical modeling activities, topic since the fitting is provided by the teacher or students. In a word, it is necessary to develop mathematical modeling in middle school. However, I only study function as an example because the math in middle school is complex and mathematical modeling contained content is a huge system.This paper is based on the integration of its ideas, mainly simplifies the process, and only explores the integration of the idea of mathematical modeling idea in the function teaching. I hope this thesis can provide development power of mathematical modeling in middle school and make more people known the advantage of mathematical modeling who can take the initiative to learn it. Only in this way can mathematical modeling can achieve its value in middle school. Although many ways has been proposed, I believe that the most effective way to solve this problem is to use mathematical modeling idea into the process of function teaching.
