A Study On The Social Work Group Of Disused Old People

Nowadays,the resulting problems are becoming more and more by the growing social aging population problems greatly. As people grew older,elders have not only a decline in physiological function,but also the psychological or mental problems will become more and more.The old people will have a higher risk of having depression,Alzheimer’s disease and delirium. Especially the phenomenon of Alzheimer’s disease has became a common and prominent problem in society,family and retirement organization.The ways of treating for Alzheimer’s disease by modern health care are divided into drug therapy and non-drug therapy. The non-drug therapy include acupuncture,rehabilitation cognitive behavioral and psychotherapy and so on. Social work has been beginning to first exploration of the ways for treating Alzheimer’s disease in theory. Domestic and foreign researches are pointed out that validation therapy, music therapy, painting therapy and other non-drug therapy can slow down the development of Alzheimer’s disease.The purpose of this paper is to use group social work which is fused the methods of validation therapy, music therapy and painting therapy, to study the impact of group social work activities for Alzheimer’s patients. Group social work, as a kind of non-drug therapy for Alzheimer’s disease, is still in a groping, exploration period.Weather the group social work can take effect for Alzheimer’s disease has yet to be further certification.This paper use comparative study to divided the Alzheimer’s patients of the retirement organization into two groups,6 in experimental group and 6 in the control group. The author and social workers step in the experimental group with treatment group for a month, and the control group didn’t take the intervention of social work treatment group. We use the tool of mini-mental state examination (MMSE) to contrast test the before and after on experimental group and the before and after on control group,and the before and after on the experimental group with control group. Then we carry out the comparison.On the other hand,we also evaluate the process and results of treatment group.In these two aspects to validate weather the treatment group can take effect for Alzheimer’s patients,here comes these conclusions:l.The group social work has a positive impact for Alzheimer’s patients.The cognitive ability, behavioral ability and mental state of the Alzheimer’s patients’have been improved to some extent.2.The Alzheimer’s patients who didn’t have the group social work to intervene in,have lower cognitive ability and behavioral ability than the Alzheimer’s patients who took part in the group social work.So that means the Alzheimer’s patients not only need day care,but also need non-drug therapy on Cognitive behavioral and mental support.3.Social work as an method of intervene in Alzheimer’s disease, needs to collaborate with medical, nursing and the other methods to have a positive impact on retarding Alzheimer’s disease.
