The purpose of the study was to examine the development of learning quality through children’s everyday activities. Within the framework of action research, the study explored quality learning performance and factors underlying quality learning through the observation of the participant, child C, in a parent-child activity of making dumplings. This study also proposed instructional strategies to promote quality early learning.The study identified child C’s positive performances of quality learning in the activity of making dumplings in the following aspects:curiosity and interest in learning, ability to take initiative, development of imagination and creativity, courage to explore and try. Meanwhile, the study also identified negative performances of learning:lack of persistence, limited attention and patience.The study found the following reasons leading to quality learning in the activity of making dumplings:developmental characteristics of children, parents’ provision of diverse materials, parents offering new tasks in a timely manner, parents’ encouragement and active guidance. It also found the following reasons leading to negative performances:unreasonable schedule, improper assessment of the capabilities of the children, parents’ ignorance of their own unsuitable behaviors, absence of proper environment.In order to promote the quality of daily life activities and the development of early, researchers proposed a number of guiding strategies. For example, parents arrange the time reasonably and provide appropriate tasks conducive to the development of the persistence of children; parents continue to adjust the evaluation mode, encourage children’s thinking conducive to the development of imagination and creativity; parents continue to reflect on their own behavior in order to be a good role model for the children; create a novel environment to catch children’s attention and facilitate the development of children’s curiosity.
