Since 2004, the new curriculum standard reform of high school has been implemented in all provinces, the new curriculum standard of biology in high school advocates inquiry-based learning in which "exploring experiment" plays an important part. Exploring experiment is an important way to improve and cultivate the students’ scientific inquiry ability. The new curriculum standard specifically requests the ability of scientific inquiry and experiment of biology in high school, but the evaluation system for the ability of exploring experiment is far from perfect. Therefore, the establishment of an evaluation system for the ability of exploring experiment of the biology in high school is an important topic of current biology educational research in high school.Now, there are several evaluation methods on the ability of scientific inquiry among which the on-site observation is recognized as the most effective one. However, its high cost limits the use for large scale. Moreover, the effectiveness of the traditional written test is controversial in the science and education field of our country, it is not a good evaluation method for the ability of observation and experiment. Therefore, we need to adopt a commonly-used evaluation method in the international science and education field---worksheet.First of all, this research constructed a worksheet-based evaluation system for experimental inquiry ability, according to the Primary Trait Analysis (PTA) and the summary of existing research in combination with the help of experts and scholars, we also add the elements of self-evaluation of students in this evaluation system. The first level indicator includes seven essential factors:putting forward questions, making assumptions, making plans and designing experiments, performing experiments and collecting data, analysis and argument, assessment, communication and cooperation, then further refine these seven elements, identify the elements affecting the capacity of each indicator as the second indicators, forming the evaluation index system.Secondly, I designed the survey questionnaire in which containing every ability index, used this questionnaire to investigate the importance of every index. After measuring the reliability and validity of this survey questionnaire, we used the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for determining the weight of each indicator, so the worksheet-based biology experiment to explore the capacity of index weight system was established.Finally, I tested the biology experimental exploring ability of 90 students who were in senior one of high school in Nanjing by the way of structural worksheet and PTA. The result showed that students got low score on the ability of "making assumptions" and "assessment", the evaluation system was feasible. |
