With the rapid development of information technology and the rapid advance of education informatization, information technology has become a basic skill to the public. As a national compulsory education in elementary education, information technology has become one of the basic skills of this century. Different from the traditional subjects, teaching model and teaching methods of information technology subjects are still in the exploratory stage. Therefore, teachers must have a new understanding of both information technology subjects by practical teaching and continuous research, innovation in order to meet the needs of development. In this article teaching through games is not the author`s innovation but utilizes the elements and features of games and game ingredients to be added to the instructional design to achieve the purpose of auxiliary teaching aims to arouse the students’ intrinsic interest and enthusiasm for learning, and improving the teaching efficiency. New curriculum requires education to cultivate students ’ information literacy and improve processing capabilities, teaching through games making teachers and students more energetic by learning making learning more fun and cultivate the above two capabilities of students.Based on the years of daily teaching practice by the author and according to the features of high school information technology courses and combining the domestic and western situations of learning through gaming,this article summarizes the basic concepts and modes of learning through games from student life and high school courses based on the characteristics of teaching research based on game situation, concluding game in both information technology and subject teaching in the basic concepts and models and makes some directional developments. In game teaching-related theory, supported by author from the teaching content, learner analysis and teaching objectives in teaching design. The core business of learning through games is teaching, teaching design is the core of author’s research. After description on teaching organization and teaching evaluation, this article further analyses teaching instances with experiences, and summary the three modes of learning through games in high school information technology class. This article shows there exemplifications <How the computers solve problems>, <How to get information from Internet>, <Pressmen and display of tables> to show the procedure of learning through games. At last, this article makes a summary of theory and practical example in order to provide some experiences for the teachers who are undertaking learning through games.
