| The question of Knowing and Doing is one of the long-term controversies on the epistem ology which belongs t o the ancient Chinese philosophy. Many researches and discussions have been carried out, which are mainly focused on the nature, sources, succession a nd importance of knowing and doing. “Yangmingismâ€, founded by Wang Yangming who is an outstanding philosopher and educator in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, has a huge influence in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, even in s outheast Asia, Japan, South Korea and some other counties. In m oral education, he learned the essence of p revious thoughts and combined them with his own life experience. What’s more, he also proposed the moral practice, the core of which is “the Unity of Knowing and Doing†and “Extension of Intuitive Knowledgeâ€. What he did prom otes the study of Knowing and Doing to a new height.Wang Yangming’s “the Unity of Knowi ng and Doingâ€, which is a kind of systematic doctrine, has his theoretical thought, i.e. “Mind is Rationâ€, as a basis. During his period, the world advocated the doctrine of “Knowledge goes before actionâ€, which belongs to the Cheng- Zhu school. Because of the doctrine’ s advocation, the deviation between know ledge and action wa s resulted. His doctrine, “the Unity of Knowing and Doing†is proposed to repair or correct the defects and defaults in such a situati on. Wang Yangming’s idea of “the Unity of Knowing and Doing†m ainly focuses on the relationshi p between m oral cognition and moral behavior. In this paper, some theories and views, such as the theory of knowing and doing which is represented by Confucianism, Taoism, Legalist and Mohist, and the knowing a nd doing view of Cheng-Zhu School i n Song Dynasty are reviewed and app lied to di scuss and analyze W ang Yangming’s “the Unity of Knowing and Do ingâ€. Some special emphasis in this paper is the ef fectiveness of moral education which is ba sed on the W ang Yangming’s “the Unity of Knowing and Doingâ€. This paper analyzes the current phenomena of “Disunity of Knowing a nd Doing†of contem porary college students. Besides, it also an alyzes the reasons of this phenomena’ s formation according to social factors and the characteristics of morality. This paper aims to find a solution to t he problem of cont emporary college students “Disunit y of Knowing and Doingâ€. At the sam e time, it also aim s to im prove the m oral education of contemporary college stude nts and im prove the ef fectiveness of moral education. |
