21st century is an era which is full of uncertainty, complexity, openness andinteractivity. Times transformation and social development need of the emergence ofa new generation with subject consciousness. The class of compulsory education isthe main place to primary and middle school students’ growth and life, and classshould become an important base to cultivate new era person. But in the reality ofclass life of primary and middle school, students’ self-development target is too low,the capacity of self-development is uneven, students living space is narrow and closed,students’ experience is poor in class life and so on. All the above is not conducive tothe cultivation of the student main body consciousness and the improvement of thecapacity of self-development. So, the author puts forward that students should change"passive" into"active" in class life in order to realize students’ self-development.Based on this, the author focuses on the research of the quality of class life andstudents’ self-development.Through the theory construction of quality of class life oflife-orientation and students’ self-development, author puts forward "based onstudents’ development, improve the quality of life" point of view. Through analysisfour dimensions which includes the students’ expected development, students’practical condition, students’ relationship status and students’ living space in class, tounderstand the quality of class life and to point out the students’ development as thecore of the specific content of the class life. And then, through questionnaireinvestigation and data analysis, the paper presents the current situation of primaryand middle school students in Yunnan province, and analyses its reasons. Based onthe analysis of questionnaire,the author propose the class life for primary and middleschool students self-development should follow the principle of subjectivity, thegenerating principle, practical principles, the principle of equality and principle of openness. And through establishing the subject status of students in class life,adjustthe class content and ways, optimization of interpersonal relationship, widelyparticipate in class affairs, improve the taste of the class life, rich class organizationand culture connotation etc,class life of primary and middle school studentsself-development train of thought is put forward. Through a series of activities todevelop students’ self-development, such as richen student organizations, buildingdemocratic class; build class culture card, highlight the class life characteristics; tocarry out the series subject class meeting; social and cultural resources and subjectteaching and the class of life comprehensive financing;richen communityorganizations and set up grade community culture;establish multi-evaluation view topromote students’ self-development,and providing reference. on how to carryout“based on students’ development, improve the quality of life class”in primary andsecondary schools.
