Nowadays, conflicts between doctors and patients have been raised greatly, which results a severe lack of trust between the doctor-patient dyad. Not only it has been a concerning issue in the primary health care field, but also it starts to interfere with the social order of our society. Globally (Asian wise), medical social work in Taiwan has been rather advanced (with an over30years of history) in terms of dealing with and/or addressing the conflict between the doctors and patients.Most of the medical social work departments in Taiwan participate in handling doctor-patient conflict by serving medical social workersasanadvocator, facilitator, educator and evaluator within the doctor-patient dyad to prevent the generation of conflicts and to improve the visiting experiences.This article would apply the method of induction and deduction%method of comparative analysis and in-depth interview to analyze upon empiricalliteratures both in mainland China and Taiwan. Ideally, this research would result in pioneering in exploring medical social work intervention approach in mainland China as well as the adaptability of the model being borrowed from Taiwan. |
