This study is an empirical study of the social needs of families with preschool children. Based on the literature review, we used the quantitative research method to investigate900families’ needs in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province. The purpose of this study is to find the needs of the preschool children’s families, especially the parents’ troubles and needs in raising their children, then to find a way to build an integral social support network. The results are as follows:1. Most of the parents are highly educated, but many children are raised by their grandparents.2. The top5problems that parents worried about their child are: children do not reject things, easy to lose the temper, hard to educated, suspected ADHD, and particular about food.3. Parents also worried about themselves, such as, they don’t know how to get along with the kids, worried about the children’s growth, and they have no enough time to stay with their children.4. Most parents need to get more information about child-rearing, or get more opportunity to consult professional organizations or kindergarten teachers.The survey on parents with preschool children reveals that their needs are not fulfilled, the reasons include both the object aspect and the subject aspect. So, building a family support network, developing family social work, improving social policy and educating the parents are all necessary.
