Computational Thinking has attracted widely attentions in the domain of computer education in recent years. Computational thinking, along with theoretical thinking and experimental thinking, are the three major scientific thinking. Understanding computational thinking and mastering its methods are very important for information technology education in middle schools. It helps to improve the quality of education and to cultivate the innovative talents with high information literacy. Recently, many domestic and foreign specialists gradually apply computational thinking to their teaching in class. The training of computational thinking ability is being enhanced in college computer education. However, how to popularize the computational thinking teaching in the middle school and primary school’s information technology course is still in its groping stage. There’s no well accepted system about how to cultivate the students’ computational thinking ability in classroom teaching.Based on the theory of computational thinking and collaborative learning, this paper combines the teaching idea of computational thinking with collaboration learning mode and establishes a new teaching and learning mode:Collaborative Learning Model based on Computational Thinking(CLMCT mode). By applying and implementing this mode to information technology teaching in middle school, the paper systematically researches on cultivation of computational thinking ability in information technology education. The paper reflects the construction of collaborative learning model based on computational thinking from theoretical research, model construction, practical application and questionnaires.Firstly, the paper describes and analyses of the present status of the primary and middle school information technology course and its shortcomings, and then analyzes and discusses the significance of cultivating computational thinking ability in middle school information technology teaching courses in detail.Secondly, the paper reviews briefly the definition of the computational thinking and the development of computational thinking in the world. It mainly analyzes the theoretical basis of collaborative learning mode and its research status, and explores the value of collaborative learning teaching model and its shortcomings.Thirdly, the paper integrates computational thinking method into the collaborative learning mode on the basis of relevant theoretical research. It also constructs collaborative learning model based on computational thinking with the method of theory combining with practice.Fourthly, abstract and automation are the essential characteristics of computational thinking, collaborative learning model based on computational thinking is formalized with mathematical formula, the enhanced effectiveness of computational thinking is incrementally expressed in the process of model formalized, and gets the related formal process equation.Fifthly, the paper puts the research model into the "artificial intelligence and robotics" and "algorithm and program design" teaching to promote the cultivation of computational thinking ability, and verify the practicability and efficiency of model.Sixthly, the paper builds up the questionnaire and surveys sample. It also analyses the computational thinking ability training of learners and the thinking way of solving problem based on computational thinking. The study of Collaborative Learning Model based on Computational Thinking Mode centers on the cultivation of computational thinking, integrates computational thinking method into middle school information technology teaching, explores the method to cultivate learners’ computational thinking ability, strengthens the cognition to computational thinking of the learners and the general education workers.
