This study is an exploratory research about interpersonal trust in professional relationships. The researcher discussed about the structure, formation mechanism and performance of client trust in social worker by using qualitative research method. The aim of this study is, in theory, to construct the model of formation of trust in professional relations; In practice, to provide some useful strategies of how to establish client trust in social worker.In this paper, the main research method to collect research data used depth interview. The researcher selected8of the professional social worker who have at least one year of practice experience, and the question focused on social worker how to win the trust of client, and how to judge the client whether trust in them in the process of professional service. The conclusions are the following:(1) At the beginning of the professional relationship, the voluntary of client turning to social worker, and stability of social worker’s place and service targets, which affect client trust in social worker.(2) In the development of the professional relationship, the main influencing factors are the personal characteristic such as ability, motivation and action. The client trust in social worker is built upon the social worker’s sincere care, the consistency of behavior and the professional helping ability.(3) The performance of client trust in social worker are the following, initiative seeking for help, exposing his true self, Initiative to compliment and praise the social worker, positive participation in the activities and offering help, among of these the typical performance is positive exposing his true self.(4) The formation of client trust in social worker is mainly decided by the following three aspects:the voluntary of client turning to social worker, the familiarity between client and social worker, personal characteristic and professional qualities of the social worker. They work through the client’s community and family environment, the standardability and integrity of the professional institution of social work, geographical relationship, professional relationship, and interpersonal communication etc.
