With the implementation of education and curriculum reform, teachers’ professional development has become the key to the education. Teachers are the first important resource of education and the there is no high-quality education without high-level teachers. Teachers’ professional development has an effect on the implementation of curriculum reform and education quality, and also has an effect on the teachers’ own professional development, so it is urgent to concern on teachers’ professional development and train a number of high-quality teachers. However, most teachers have no strong awareness of professional development and their needs for professional development are not satisfied. The needs of teachers’ professional development effect teachers’ development. Besides, what teachers need, what teachers need to be satisfied and what teachers need to be concerned about effect both curriculum implementation and effectiveness of school teaching. We should reflect that whether teacher education really satisfies teachers’ professional development needs. Therefore, it is vital to understand teachers’ professional development needs to improve teachers’ professional development.This paper sets Xi’an Mingdemen Primary School as an example, focuses on the needs and satisfactions of teachers’ professional development to find out what kind of knowledge, capability and development mode that teachers need by interviewing, observing and researching. Based on the fact and the problems of teachers’ professional development needs and satisfactions that author find out, this paper mean to make suggestions to take firm and correct measures to satisfy teachers’professional development needs to improve their professional development. There are four chapters in this paper:The first chapter is introduction; mainly introduce the background and significance of this research, introduce the current research about teachers’ professional development needs. Then make core concepts clear and expound the relative theories and design of the research.The second chapter sets Xi’an Mingdemen Primary School as an example; mainly analyze teachers’ professional development needs and satisfaction of professional idea and ethics, professional knowledge and professional ability by observing, face to face interviewing and researching.The third chapter sets Xi’an Mingdemen Primary School as an example; mainly analyze teachers’ professional development needs and satisfaction of developing style, including self-reading, teaching reflection, degree studying, lecture, teaching discussion, training and school-based researching.The fourth chapter begins with the current problems of teachers’professional development needs and the reasons; find out that some teachers’ needs is less reasonable and there is some imbalance between theory needs and practice needs.In the fifth chapter, according to the fact of the teachers’ professional development needs and satisfaction and the problems that proposed in the fourth chapter, reflect on teacher education and teacher’professional development, teacher education should pay more attention to the deepening of the concept of lifelong learning and stress the rationality of teachers’ professional development needs.
