Senior middle school offer elective courses after the reform of the new curriculum in2003.But there are many problems in the Implementation of the elective curriculum, such as, pay more attention to the master the classical knowledge, teachers talk too much, there is not much difference between the elective courses and the compulsory courses and so on. This thesis will focus on the selected articles of the eight great essayists in the dynasty of Tang and Song, the author will talk about "what to teach" and "how to teach", define the teaching content of this subject and introduce some types of this course.This thesis consists of four parts, one for introduction, one for conclusion and three for the principal part.In the introduction, the author introduces the background and the significance of the study, the current situation of this study and the purpose of the study, the research project and the research methods of this study. Also the author figure out the content of this study, that is to discuss what to teach in the course of the selected articles of the eight essayists in the dynasty of Tang and Song in the back of the reform of the new curriculum.In chapter one, the author introduces the textbooks and the teaching objectives. Also discusses the basic structure and characteristics of the book, then the author lists a list of teaching objectives according to the standards of the new curriculum and the advice of the editor. The objectives contain Knowledge、skill、process、method and Values. In chapter two, the author firstly figures out the difference between three concepts, that are " The content of the course"、"The content of the textbook" and " The content of teaching". Then the author discusses the relationship of default and generation. In the last the author elaborates the content of teaching of this course from three aspects, they are humanistic knowledge, the knowledge of Chinese literature and the skills of the subject of Chinese. In chapter three the author discusses the topic of the learning and teaching of the content. In the first place the author explains the core concepts of this chapter. Then the author figures out the teaching requirements of the new curriculum and the editor of this book. On this basis, the author expounds the principles of teaching of this course in the context of elective courses. Also the author lists some types of course, for example, the course of the accumulation about classical knowledge、the course of feeling and realizing、the course of Appreciating by themselves、the course of studying the text and so on.In the conclusion, the author figures out the lack of the research and makes some suggestions. That is teachers should have a sense of teaching by the method of the book and coordinate the relationship between the characteristic of basis and development. As this course is an elective course, so teachers should consider the optional features of this course and have topics awareness.
