As a link between high schools and colleges, the National College Entrance Examination(NCEE) is a selective examination contributing to the enrollment of colleges and universities and is also an important means to evaluate students’ academic abilities. A new curriculum reform for high schools was implemented in Jiangsu province in2005and2008witnessed this curriculum reform. The orientation of proposition for College Entrance Examination determines the strength and process of the enforcement of the curriculum reform in high schools. As a Mathematics educator, my serious researches on the test questions in NCEE can help improve professionalism faster and serve the curriculum reform for high school mathematics better.This paper mainly studied mathematics test questions in NCEE of Jiangsu from2008to2013using the methods of document search and statistics. And through the analysis on the structure and text types and statistical comparisons based on the check content of knowledge point distribution, basic knowledge, main knowledge and extra questions for science, the following research conclusions can be drawn:The characteristics of Jiangsu College Entrance Examination contain raising test’s discrimination by increasing the number of fill-in-the-blank questions. The demand for several language points varies, including some declining and patterned ones. The number and types as well as points of basic knowledge are stable while the single knowledge point of the main knowledge has separated propositions and the level of difficulty is strictly controlled. Besides, the difficulty degree of the alternative questions in additional questions is just suitable and the check content of compulsory questions involves a lot.Mathematics’proposition of Jiangsu tends to hold stability in the whole paper and add proper innovation to some test questions. Meanwhile, the check contents are almost based on the basis and emphasize the interaction between knowledge and skills. The materials of the questions are close to daily life to lead students to pay attention to the application of Math. The propositions also lay emphasis on students’ potential and sustainable development in Colleges. At the same time, it attaches importance to students’ individual differences and reflects hierarchical assessment.Some suggestions for Jiangsu College Entrance Mathematics proposition:raise the whole paper’s discrimination by cutting back on the amount of fill-in-the-blank questions and adding more brief-answering questions; take a good control of the difficulty level of the alternative questions for science students; enhance the checking reliabilities of test questions about optional Book4; proposition in solid geometry should have a wider viewing angle; proposition about function, derivative, progression and algorithm needs to be considered about the relationship between test questions and module teaching; modify the curriculum standards and test directions properly to provide a more expansive operating space for proposition; separated papers for science and arts are advised; less difficulty for arts’ test and smaller amount for science’s would exactly reduce the burden of both science students and teachers.I hope the study in this paper could do some benefits to the reform of the College Entrance Examination’s proposition and let it develop the functions of evaluation much further. Meanwhile, this may provide some reference for Jiangsu College Entrance mathematics examiners and the vast number of front-line high school math teachers.
