Nowadays, with the development of the times and the progress of the technology, the capabilities of the exploration and transformation of human to nature are more powerful, social and economic development are unprecedented, however, frequent natural disasters which continue to pose a threat to human life and property, has been gradually an important factor which impede social development.Practice has proved that good work prevention and mitigation of natural disasters, can effectively improve the capabilities of human against natural disasters, to reduce casualties and economic losses, therefore improving disaster prevention and reduction ability of the public especially middle school students is imperative, and research on natural disaster education of middle school students is necessary.In this paper, a city in Shandong Province, the nine secondary schools of three districts for the study, to take the questionnaire, interviews, etc., I take a comprehensive investigation to the local high school education to prevention and mitigation of natural disasters and students to the mastery of prevention and mitigation of natural disasters of knowledges and skills. Through the analysis of the survey results, we can know the status of the implementation of prevention and mitigation of natural disasters in this region; find deficiencies exist in the implementation process; propose targeted corrective recommendations.Through the analysis of the questionnaire, the following conclusions can be obtained:1. from the content of the compulsory education curriculum standards in geography, natural disasters education as an integral part is put in different chapters, but do not form a system, and the coverage is still relatively narrow, can not meet requirements of the regional geography education and the life;2. according to the form, mostly based disaster prevention drills organized by the school’s disaster prevention and mitigation activities, can not be combined with courses in close, so the current disaster education model has room for improvement;3. disaster knowledges of junior teachers need to be further improved:4. evaluation system of disaster prevention and mitigation education still needs further improvement;5. the attention of society and family to the disaster prevention education in school needs to be improved.Aiming at the problems of disaster education, the paper puts forward some improvement measures:1.improve the content, strengthen school-based curriculum construction;2. return to the class with a variety of forms;3. strengthen the quanlity of teachers, clear the dominance of teachers;4.clear the teaching targets, improve the assessment mechanism;5.build "family-school-community" trinity educational environment.I hope that this paper will lead to attach importance to natural disaster education for various departments at all levels, further strengthen the education level in natural disaster prevention and reduction, establish effective teaching strategies, have the ability to let students can really identify disaster risk, master the skills.
