With the development of social economy and culture, the man asks for more and more from nature inevitably. Because of the industrialized development, natural resources and environment are polluted seriously. Ecological balance is broken. The inevitable natural and man-induced disasters take place so constantly that it threatens the human being. Then the education of preventing disaster has been paid more attention.The dissertation makes a research about the consciousness of preventing disaster among Chinese middle school students by making an inquiry. It says that Chinese middle school students' consciousness of preventing disaster is very weak. It's very necessary to strengthen it to some degree. The students are just during the time of increasing knowledge and forming their world outlook. It can influence one's value outlook and outlook on life deeply if he accepts the education of preventing disaster during the time of middle school.On the basis of analysis, the dissertation tells us the necessity and feasibility of making the education of preventing disaster in geography teaching of middle school. It's very important to do it in China because of the constant disasters. The writer thinks that middle school students are the main group who should accept this kind of education. The education of preventing disaster has been involved into geography teaching as one of quality educations. The students should know some basic ideas such as: how to make use of nature? How to remake nature? How to make the nature and the man develop together? Quality education needs the education of preventing education, the students' ability of living need it too. It also can help the students to have the outlook of sustainable development.In the dissertation, the writer also tells us the advantage of subject of geography in education of preventing disaster. Expect for consciousness of preventing disaster, geography education also can help students to know thereasons of disasters so that they can made the measures to prevent them according to what they know.The dissertation discusses some basic methods of preventing disaster in geography teaching of middle school. The books of geography contain lots of knowledge of disaster and imply some educational content of preventing disaster. The teachers of middle school should analyze the content of the books and find some methods to prevent disasters in teaching. They must strengthen the education in teaching with suitable methods.The education should have the features of quality education as one of them. The geography educators have duty to educate the students to prevent disaster. The teachers should make a goal for the students about it and find the best methods and contents of preventing disaster. The teacher must do it in teaching in order to improve the consciousness and ability of the students.
