In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s economy and society,people’s life of material standard risen up day by day, while the population agingcrisis that continued to increase gradually become the focus of the society, leaded tothe related issues about the elderly education. Since the first elderly university namedShandong Red Cross elderly university was born in our country, the elderly university,as an important carrier of elderly education, was exploring the theory and practice thatassociated with elderly education. As a special form of elderly university, theconstruction of elderly university that held by universities is becoming more and morepopular and the influence also is gradually enhanced.This paper put the elderly universities in SN and SU as research object, byfocusing on their teaching characteristics and the problems that existing in theteaching activities and in-depth comparing with ordinary elderly university held bySH, then put forward the corresponding improvement strategies and Suggestions, inview of the deficiency in the teaching activities in these three elderly universities. Atlast we could promote their mutual development---this is the purpose of this study.The paper divides into five chapters.The first chapter: Introduction, includes the research background of this article,the definition of research object named teaching characteristic, the reasons that why weselect the elderly universities that held by local universities as research object, thesignificance and structure of thesis.The second chapter: Literature Review. At first we will clarify the theoreticalfoundation of this thesis. Then on the basis of the studies about teaching characteristicsof elderly university we will carry on the literature review, mainly including sorting out and summing up the existing research conclusion, to put forward further analysis inthis study.The third chapter: the research design,includes clarifying the research object,expounding the technical route of this study, introducing the mainly research methodsand specific implementation of this study.The fourth chapter: the analysis of teaching characteristics among three elderlyuniversities(SN、SU、SH) through questionnaires, structured interview and case studyto realize this.The fifth chapter: on the basis of the results of last chapter, we will sum up andsort out the teaching characteristics of elderly universities and the problems exiting inpractice and put forward the improvement suggestions.Based on the above results, this paper draws the following conclusions: In theelderly universities that held by universities, there are some certain advantages aboutthe management of teachers and students, teaching objectives, teaching content,teaching methods, teaching evaluation and so on, which may be mainly due to theinherent advantages of itself.But this is not the absolute predominance, they should actively seize theseadvantages of continuous innovation. Other types of senile university can also learnfrom experience, and experience also can be popularized to the more elderlyuniversity. Therefore elderly university that held by universities can give full play tothe guiding and prospective effect.
