The Study Of Characteristics Of School-Operation Of Chinese Universities And Colleges

As China's economic system changes and the deepening of popularization stage of higher education, the competition among colleges and universities is increasing fiercely. Most schools transform from technical secondary, single discipline, teaching schools to undergraduate, comprehensive, research colleges and universities. As this trend goes on, most universities and colleges will be the same, which is not good for the development of Chinese universities and colleges, also not good for the quality enhancement of higher education. The reality requires that we must strengthen the construction of characteristics of universities and colleges, so that they can survive and develop by their distinct features.The purpose of this dissertation is to summarize the common and special features of universities and colleges by studying and analyzing 125 universities and colleges'characteristics and to give some reference to other universities and colleges, so it will be avoided that most universities and colleges are the same, which also promotes them to seek personal development and improve their quality of school operation. This study uses methods of stratified sampling and content analysis. First of all, in the level of theory, analyzing the concept, traits, influencing factors and manifestations of characteristics of school-operation. Then, summarizing the common features of characteristics from levels and types of universities and colleges, such as long-term accumulation, stability, and in accordance with the times and local conditions, etc, and also the special features, such as, different levels, different number of characteristic projects, different school history and different characteristic projects, etc. Finally, from the analysis of self-evaluation reports, the dissertation points out some problems of characteristics of Chinese universities and colleges and their reasons. On this basis, the dissertation proposes some solutions and makes future prospect of characteristics of Chinese universities and colleges.
