Metacognitive theory emphasizes that the individual to own the process ofcognitive activities and adjusted the results and feedback, to the person’s thinkingactivity carried on the thorough discussion and research. The core content ofmathematical metacognitive knowledge and experience is the mathematical ideas,thoughts, ideas and strategies. In mathematic learning,Mathematical thinking qualitycharacteristics play as the role of orientation, control and regulating. Mathematicalmetacognition helps to develop student’s mathematical thinking ability, exert students’initiative and self-consciousness, make students form good learning habits,masterscientific learning methods and improve autonomous learning ability.This article surveys the mathematical metacognition and the level ofmathematical thinking ability present situation of our school students in Gradesix,carried on the think-aloud test and questionnaire survey, as well as interviewingsome students and teachers. Analysis of the problem are as below: junior high schoolstudents lack of mathematics metacognition knowledge, the use of the mathematicalmetacognitive strategy ability and Mathematical thinking quality characteristicsdevelopment is low, mathematics thought ability level is shallow and narrow, part ofthe students’ mathematical thinking mostly follow blindly. So, we could improvestudents’ mathematical thinking ability through the mathematics meta-cognitiveknowledge and strategies of teaching.This article, firstly, proposed the junior middleschool students mathematical metacognition and the necessity and significance ofcultivating the ability of mathematical thinking, Secondly, it analyzed mathematicsmetacognition ability and the theoretical basis of cultivating the ability ofmathematical thinking. On the basis of investigation and analysis, the article putforward the concrete strategy of training students’ mathematical thinking abilitytraining and teaching measures to optimize thinking quality of students.Put forwardsome feasible suggestions to provide several help for specific mathematics teachingwork,in order to better improve the students’ mathematics meta-cognition level,cultivate their mathematical thinking ability, which makes sense to mathematicsteaching as well.
