Thinking On The Goal Of Moral Education In Universities In The Context Of Modernity

Effectiveness of the moral education in colleges is the important issue which is concerned prevalently about college moral education, and the key of moral education is the rationality and validity of moral education goal. The objective is the start and stance of moral education in college, and it also determines the direction, content and effect of moral education. Our country is now in the process of socialist modernization construction, which make the modern society as well as the undergraduates face the problems brought from the modernity. Thus, reflection on the goal of moral education becomes the important issue on moral education.Although modernity becomes the target of questioning , criticizing and reflecting in the western theoretical field, and the most cause is that modernity has imposed so serious bad impact on human that many moral problems has occurred such as moral anomie, moral relativism, hedonism, etc. Those questions mirror the identical problems happened in china, and provide the referential experience for the construction of socialist modernization in china. Western modernity had historical progressed obviously on human liberation, but it also made negative effect on human spirit and morals clearly.In essence, the purpose of college moral education is the internal stipulation as to morals of human beings. So good and bad effects on human of the modernity provide the enlightenment and lessons for the study of moral education in college. The enlightening effects of modernization on purpose of college moral education mainly comes from the criticalness of modernization: the spread of instrumental rationality, the spread of anthropocentrism and extreme individualism.By analyzing the purpose of college moral education since the founding of PRC, we find logically the general ideological characteristics, and the referred problems of moral education goal in college: the lack of civic education, the lack of humanity, the lack of moral ability to judge and so on. At the same time, in the context of modernity, I bring forward the enlightenment and referential advices on the construction of the objective of the moral education in college. Hence, under the guidance of Marx's theory of modernity, I put the principles of the construction of moral education in college: unifying social standard and individual standard, unifying adaptability and transcendentalism, combination of inheritance and the times, blending of nationality and the world. Thus the paper put forward the content of the purpose of college moral education: the basic purpose is to cultivate moral qualities of modern citizens; the main goal is to cultivate subjectivity of college students; the core goal is to cultivate the socialist ideology, and the supreme goal is to nurture undergraduate's faith on communism.
