I choose school-based research of primary school teachers of English as the research object of this study. The thesis focuses on the establishment of the basic mode of school-based research characteristic of primary school English teachers'practice and introspection according to the problems that at present the school-based research is inefficient, proved by means of Questionnaire Survey, Interview and Action Research.This thesis consists of six chapters. The first one is about the background and significance of this study, in which I comb through the references on teachers'professional development and school-based research, and then decide my study aims, contents and methods on the basis of these references.In the second chapter, I elaborate the connotation and condition of teachers'professional development and the connotation and the specialized quality structure of primary school teachers of English. Then I discuss on the topic of school-based research which is characteristic of primary school English teachers'practice and introspection, including the connotation of practice-introspection and school-based research, the contents and features of the practice-introspection characterized school-based research. And then I analyze the objectives and contents of such a school-based research.In Chapter Three, I do a survey on English teacher's professional development and school-based research and have interviews with the teachers of Luwan No. 2 Central Primary. The survey and the interviews indicate that the teachers are lacking in the competence of teaching practice, introspection on teaching and research on teaching as well, and the present school-based research are helpless for these teachers.In Chapter Four, I establish a basic mode of school-based research characteristic of practice and introspection for primary school teachers of English according to the results of the survey and interviews. This mode is made up of three modules: introspective school-based training, introspective school-based discussion on teaching and introspective school-based research on teaching, which are explained in detail in this chapter.In Chapter Five, I put forward some strategies of such a school-based research on the aspects of teacher's self-introspection, peer-coaching and expert-leading.The last chapter refers to the analysis of the effects of this school-based research and my conclusion and introspection of this study. |
